The entire manufacturing process is done under strict quality control standards to

ensure that only the highest quality shingles reach consumers. After production, asphalt

roof shingles must be properly installed by certified professionals for them to perform

optimally over time and remain durable through extreme weather conditions. Asphalt

shingles themselves aren’t very thick. On average, only about 3/16th of an inch thick,

they’re made with a few layers of inorganic materials such as fiberglass mats and

asphalt.

1.Felt or fiberglass matting:

This layer is the foundation of the shingle. It is made of a mix of polyester and fiberglass

that acts as the base for the asphalt to adhere to.

2. Asphalt:

The next layer is composed of waterproof asphalt, which helps to keep water out of the

home. The asphalt also contains a special type of mineral filler and other additives that

give the shingle its color and provide UV protection from the sun’s rays.

3. Fire-retardant and water-resistant coatings:

This coating provides additional protection from the elements and helps extend the

shingle's lifespan.

4. Stone granules:

This layer of the shingle is finished with durable stone granules. These granules help

protect the asphalt from UV rays and other weather damage, as well as help give the

shingle its unique appearance.

5.Sealant:

The shingle will also be sealed with an adhesive sealant. This helps keep the elements

out and ensures that the shingles are securely fastened to the roof deck.

6. Finishing:

The finishing touches are then added to give the shingle its final look, such as a color

variety or pre-formed shapes like tabs or slots.

7. Quality control:

Every step of the production process must adhere to strict quality control standards in

order for a shingle to become certified. This includes testing for strength, fire resistance,

water-resistance and wind resistance.

Once all the materials have been combined into one, it goes through a roll-forming

machine. That’s how the flat pieces of materials are made into the shapes that allow

them to interlock and form an overlapping pattern on your roof.

After production, asphalt shingles also go through several tests in order to meet the

industry standards for performance and durability before they can be shipped out and

sold to consumers. Depending on the type, asphalt shingles may have warranties lasting

as long as 30 years - ensuring your home is well-protected and looking great for

decades.

Asphalt roof shingles are an attractive option for homeowners due to their affordability,

durability, and versatility. In addition to providing a wide range of colors and textures to

choose from, they are also easy to install and maintain. As long as they are installed

correctly by certified professionals with regular maintenance, asphalt roof shingles can

provide reliable protection for homes for many years without requiring expensive

repairs or replacements. This makes them one of the most cost-effective options

available on the market today.
